Coleman Cooker

In my opinion, a Coleman Cooker has to be one of the best things that I have ever bought for camping. I have seen friends go through several cheap burners without any success, and meanwhile my Coleman stove is still going, after several years. Sure, I clean it properly and look after it, but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t taken a hammering in the back of my four wheel drive, for weeks at a time. There are a lot of other good brands out there, although I haven’t tried much else except for Coleman. They seem to make good quality products, regardless of whether it is sleeping bags, tents or anything else that you use for camping.

I prefer a Coleman Cooker that has two burners, to ensure that if one breaks down you have a spare and to do multiple things on it at once. 3 burners can be even better, but most of the time it’s unnecessary. The Coleman Cooker that I am referring to is the green one, with two burners and a lid that folds up to form a wind break. These are great for cooking for a group of people, or for yourself. The only let down is that they are heavy and require a gas bottle, which rules out hiking with them. However, you should be purchasing the product based on what you want it to do, not because its good value or it looks good. Any Coleman Camp Stove is worth the coin though.

Coleman makes a huge range of cookers, from individual burners through to the one that I referred to above. I also like the single burners that are able to run on dual fuel. These are simply filled up, and then you pump air into the canister at the bottom and then light them up. These burn extremely hot and they last for a long time. On top of that, they are light weight and easy to carry, making them perfect for those who are hiking. The other good option for camping is a Trangia Cooker.

A lot of these come in little carry bags too, which is very handy. Keeping your Coleman Cooker clean will make it last for much longer. Its surprising what a bit of dust combined with fat splatter and food remains will do to your cooker over the long run! If you are sick of having cookers that break time and time again, spend the extra money and get yourself a Coleman Cooker. They truly are well worth the money, and they have a big range for every purpose.
