A Portable Gas Cooker is extremely handy when you go camping, or even when you are having a picnic. Many people still use Metho Burners, but I think that the gas technology is much better. They are easier to use, you don’t have to pour metho back into the bottle, you don’t have a liquid that can be spilt, they burn in a flame that is easy to see and much hotter, and they are easier to control. I have found though that purchasing gas cookers that are cheap is a total waste of time. Considering you only save about 40 dollars from buying a junky one, you may as well spend the extra money on something that you know is good quality. I have used the Coleman Cookers for many years now, and never had a problem. Sure, they need to be maintained, but so does every Portable Gas Cooker. Remember to get the right size burner. If you have a large family, then you want a large burner. Likewise if you are camping then you don’t want to carry a 4kg gas bottle and 2kg burner around with you. Buy the product to suit the application.
Using the gas bottles that you can purchase from the store is a good idea because they are cheap to refill, and the gas burns very efficiently. I have used several bottles for over a year regularly and the bottles just keep going. If you are camping regularly (your lucky!) then you can buy an 8kg gas bottle, or even bigger if you need. Generally the Portable Gas Cooker that has 2 or 3 burners are the best, because if one does go then you can use the other, and it means that you can do two things at once.
A good Portable Gas Cooker is able to heat up your water or food in a matter of minutes, without using much gas at all. Get something with a good wind break as well, or you will find that cooking and heating things up will take a lot longer! There are plenty of options when it comes to these, but you need to pick the right one for what you want to do with it.
