Portable Propane Grill
Having a reliable cooker to cook your food, warm up drinks or to heat water up for the dishes is something of great value when it comes to camping. What you need to know though is that there is a massive range in the Portable Propane Grill. You can get tiny ones designed to heat up food for individuals, or you can get larger ones that are made to heat up food for a whole family. You can get a Portable Propane Grill that is extremely small and light weight, for those who go hiking regularly. Space and weight is a serious issue when hiking, so getting items that are light weight and small is a huge advantage. Another option is the Trangia Cooker.

Likewise though, you can get huge grills which are designed to be able to cook for a whole family, or even larger. I much prefer using the larger ones, but if you are hiking then it’s not a good idea to buy one! The gas bottles that you buy for a grill range in size too, but you don’t really need a huge one unless you are going away for a long time. I have used a 4kg one for several years, going camping several times a year for more than a week and it’s still going. Gas lasts for a long time, and it’s not that expensive to fill them up either.
Alternatively, you can run a Portable Propane Grill off small canisters, but you pay a lot more for these because of the extra packaging. A lot of people go and buy the cheap grills with the propane in cans, but these cans run out so fast that you end up spending so much more on the gas in a week’s use than you did on the grill in the first place. Spending the extra money is worth it every single time, and with a gas bottle you are able to cook for months on end without any issues. Gas bottles can also be used for showering and other requirements, if that’s what you need.
The difference between a Portable Propane Grill and a Butane one is simply the gas itself. Butane is cheaper and burns more efficiently, but it is no good in cold weather and it doesn’t like to be used in rough country. This explains why Propane is so much more common, and it does the job just fine. Remember to pick the right size grill though, as this makes all of the difference. Also, match the grill size with the gas bottle or canisters that you are using! Even the best stove like a Coleman Camp Stove will not work well if you want to cook for 100 people!
